This beautiful print is inspired by 'the Last Snowdrops'

What beautiful flowers of hope these little harbingers of Spring are. Appearing on the coldest and darkest early days of the year, a promise of hope and of what is to come.

A sadness for the end of the snowdrop season was my inspiration for this print, after a freezing walk at our local National Trust property, Attingham Park, where there are carpets of snowdrops, and they are breathtakingly beautiful.

This is a lino-cut print, carefully cut into a lino-block by hand, using special hand tools. Many hours of work went into the cutting, to create my design. The next stage is to roll ink onto the plate, using a brayer ( a roller) i have used archival quality ink, a traditional oil based one. This gives the beautiful depth of colour, it takes around a week to dry, but i love to use it. Then the block is carefully placed onto my Gunning Etching press, and printed onto top quality paper.

The first print off the press may need a little more work, but when i am happy, off we print!

I have this print available in a beautiful green, very Spring like, or a deep Prussian blue, my favourite blue. Of course i am able to print in any colour by request, the joy of buying from the artist!. I anticipate a black being available soon. Message me if you have a particular requirement. Please send me an email with the colour you would like when ordering.

The actual printed area is 19cm x 29cm, the paper used is A3, approx 30cm x 42cm. The paper on the green print is 'Snowden'. The blue is in 'Fabriano' a thicker more creamy colour paper.

Prints are carefully wrapped in acid free tissue, and placed in an A3 cardboard envelope for posting, they come with a 'letter of authentication' signed by me the artist. They are an edition of 100.

Please let me know at checkout Blue of Green.
