This beautiful, Limited edition print was inspired by the footpath that runs past my house, and onto Wenlock Edge.
When the Cow Parsley is in bloom, the flowers lean into the middle and the path narrows into a foaming mass of whiteness, so beautiful! I hope i have captured a little of the loveliness of this. The print also has buttercups and grasses, also out at the same time as the Cow Parsley!
The first step in creating this print was to look at the sketches i had made last year, and draw these and more detail onto my lino block, this made the basic frame work and i began the long process of cutting away. I used some 'micro' cutting tools on this print, the details are quite tiny in places ( and a magnifying mirror) then as the design developed , i added more detail, i like to work in this very flexible and intuitive way. After many hours, lots of Earl Grey tea, and a big chunk of a great Audio book, my print was ready for proofing ( a test print) and a few minor adjustments.
Then the prints were printed! carefully inking the plate, using archival quality inks, and placing beautiful paper onto the inked plate , then through my lovely Gunning printing press, (Brenda), then the excitement of the finished article, hung up to dry and be admired ( by me! i love this print)
The size of the print is approximately A4, printed onto A3 Paper ( 300gms Snowden) roughly 21cm x 30cm print, onto 28cm x 38cm paper, it is sold unmounted and the frame is just for display purposes.
It is a limited edition of just 50, and is signed and editioned.
